California Chrome retired with a spectacular record of 16-4-1 in 27 career starts and earnings of $14,752,650 ­– at the time the highest total in history! He won 14 stakes, among them many of the most prestigious races in the world – including the Kentucky Derby, the Preakness Stakes, the Santa Anita Derby, the Hollywood Derby, the Dubai World Cup, the Pacific Classic and the Breeders’ Cup Classic. At one point from Jan. 9 to October 1 of 2016 he won six in a row – three Gr.1’s, two Gr2’s and a Handicap in Dubai.
