Handsome Mike is a son of the late Scat Daddy, a perennial leading sire. Among the major points on his broad resume, Scat Daddy won the Gr. I Florida Derby and Gr. I Champagne Stakes, earned more than $1.3 million, was the leading sire in Chile four times, and is the sire of unbeaten Triple Crown winner Justify.
With only 59 starters in his two crops to race, Handsome Mike reached nearly $1.1 million in progeny earnings with crop number two. He's the sire of four stakes-placed runners, Here Comes Jackie, his leading money-winner with $153,460; Naughty Me, Gran Greyfrost and Lucky Mike. He already has accounted for 10 winners in 2020 through Feb. 10.
Red Baroness started just one time before being retired. She has produced three foals other than the just-turned 2-year-old filly, including the unraced Giant Red Baron and Tropicalredtide. Her 3-year-old filly, Aizu, has raced twice in the Circle 8 colors and finished third in her last - a $50,000 claiming race on Dec. 12 over a sloppy track at Gulfstream Park. She's earned $4,871 in the two races.
Red Baroness is awaiting her 2020 foal after her 2019 breeding to Ride On Curlin, the son of Curlin who was stakes-placed nine times, including finishing second to California Chrome in the 2014 Preakness, en route to earning $795,175. His first foals will run this season.
